Happy New Year and a very warm welcome back as we begin Term 2. To the new students and families joining Early Years this term: we are so delighted to have you with us. You are joining a vibrant school community, and we very much look forward to getting to know you all.

At our school, belonging is foundational to everything we do. Joining a new school can bring a mix of emotions for both children and parents, and we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and develops a strong sense of belonging. Building positive relationships is at the heart of what we do, and our team works closely together to support children as they settle into routines and get to know their classmates and teachers. Building a sense of connection is a collective effort, a partnership between students, staff and parents. Whether through a friendly greeting at the gate or supporting one another in the classroom, we work together to ensure every child and their family know they are a valued part of our community.

A busy term awaits! A calendar of events has been included for your reference below. Please continue to check My School Portal for additions/updates on events. Some of the highlights that we are looking forward to include:

  • Lunar New Year and Hari Raya-Our Year 3 students will be leading our Lunar New Year celebration assembly. All students will be treated to our traditional Lion Dance, and we also invite our community to share in this special event. Our Year 6 students will be leading our Hari Raya celebrations at the end of term. Exploring these cultural celebrations provides valuable opportunities for children to develop an early understanding of diversity, respect and community. Through age-appropriate experiences including stories, songs and the sharing of personal experiences, children will be encouraged to learn about different traditions and ways of life, helping to nurture curiosity, empathy and a sense of belonging in our diverse school community.
  • PE Showcases -These take place for EY in Marchand serve as both a celebration of learning and a window for parents into the learning that takes place in our PE classes. These events are always a highlight for the children, and we actively encourage parent participation!
  • Music-Reception parents have the opportunity to join their children for Reception Sing Week (dates to be confirmed) We also have Music Moments for Year 2.
  • World Book Day-Children can look forward to meeting our visiting author, Sue Hendra, and participating in creative workshops that bring stories to life throughout the school week. Families can celebrate by exploring and sharing their favourite books together. This celebration includes a vibrant dress-up event, where everyone is invited to come to school as their favourite character to celebrate the magic of reading.
  • Parent Meetings/Workshops-Partnership with parents remains a key priority for us. This term, families will have further opportunities to meet with teachers to discuss children’s learning, development and wellbeing. Open and ongoing communication between home and school plays a vital role in supporting each child’s growth, and we value the collaborative relationships we build with our families. We will also continue with parent workshops on a range of different topics.

As we move through the months ahead, we are excited about the learning, exploration and growth that this term will bring. Thank you for your continued support of our Early Years team.
