It
was an early morning rise for KLASS athletes last Sunday morning as they headed
to the Australian International School for the triathlon race, which is
normally the last triathlon organised for the year. This event was well
attended and the response was exceptional good this year with 200 athletes
competing. This year, the athletes did not have to deal with the hot blazing
sun as the weather held out and was overcast; a nice morning for those who
participated.
There
was a great turnout by KLASS athletes, participating in all the categories from
the youngest to the open category. KLASS parents who participated had to
compete against the younger athletes in the Open category and managed to secure
podium position. Simon Compton and Tony Heneberry came first in the only relay
category and Claire McCallum came 3rd in the Open woman category.
Most
KLASS athletes finished in the top 10 and we managed to secure the top position
for the 3 boys’ categories. Excellent achievement of the day was from Sean
Doyle who emerged 1st in the Under 12 category, Josh McCallum who
was 1st in the Under 10 category and Sebastian Cross who was awarded
1st in the Under 8 category.
