By Holly Dyas,Year 13
In their final year of studying Graphic Products at Alice Smith, senior A-Level Graphics students, Holly Dyas, Fergus Ella, Joseph Hwang, Alexander Winter and Leh Theng Wong are required to produce a project of their choosing focusing on the Built Environment such as, creating the interior/exterior of a building/spaces either existing or conceptual. This is both a creative and challenging journey that prepares them for possible further study in the field of design at university. As part of the process of completing their projects, it is good practice to engage with professional designers in Kuala Lumpur to discuss aspects of their designs.
With the help of Mr Quirk in the Design and Technology department, the five students met with renowned Director of HL Design, Architect Martin Haeger. Martin generously gave up some of his time in his busy schedule to talk individually and as a group to each of the students about their projects. Each student had the opportunity to explain their project plan and the idea behind it. It was an informative and thought provoking experience, as he explored their ideas in detail from a real world perspective giving an insight into the work of high level design thinking.
