By Sebastian Cross, Year 7
This year I was lucky enough to attend the Trinity Rock and Pop Music Awards on 3rd June 2018 at Bentley Music Auditorium.
Last year, I sat for my Grade 1 vocal exam and got distinction, which I was very happy with. Then a couple of months back, we received an invitation letter to the Awards. I didn’t know what exactly it was for and it was all a surprise.
Jeremy Lim (Year 5) and Troy Bailey (Year 9) also received the letters. There were three of us from KLASS to receive the Awards.
At the Awards, we saw all the amazing talents from the Award Winners (those who have achieved highest marks for that Grade in all of KL and Selangor) and Outstanding Achievers (those who achieved second highest marks in all of KL and Selangor) from multiple grades and instruments. Some people's acts took my breath away; they were out of this world. The electric guitarist’s fingers were flying around so fast it was like I couldn't see them, the drums felt like I was in a real concert and the singing was like the recorded tracks you hear on radio.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience to go to because not only were people given their Awards, but the music played and sung was of extremely high quality.
These were our Awards:
- Jeremy Lim received the Outstanding Achievers Award for Initial Grade vocal
- Sebastian Cross received Award Winner for Grade 1 vocal
- Troy Bailey received Award Winner for Grade 3 vocal
