When the library is looking to dispose of older resources that still have potential usefulness, we always look to donate them to worthy charitable organisations. This year many of the weeded books from both the primary and secondary KLASS libraries were donated to Book Reach Nepal led by Doreen Johnstone.
The books were very well received and in this photograph Siobhan Roulson (red shirt) formerly primary teacher librarian at Garden International School with Doreen behind her can be seen reading books with Nepalese students in one of the school libraries populated with donated books.
We will be looking to send more books to Book Reach in 2017 and will be looking for book donations from our community to add to our library’s weeded books. The books need to be appropriate for children and in accessible language.
