By Jack Henneberry, Year 7
Around 2 months after I started at Alice Smith, I competed in the Singapore National Duathlon. A duathlon is where you run, then bike, then run again. It’s really fun.
This was my 2nd Duathlon event since I started triathlon training in December. I usually compete in triathlons but once in a while there is a series or a duathlon or biathlon. This duathlon was really cool because lots of my friends were doing it, so that took a lot of pressure off me. There were 2 others from Alice Smith. They were Josh and Natalie from Primary.
The course was a 1.5km run, then a 12km bike, and then another 1.5km run. I started off alright in the run but then lost a few places in the bike race as I have a smaller bike than everyone else. I managed to catch up on the last run. I finished in 6th place out of about 35 in my category. I was very happy with my result, considering I only started training 11 months ago.
“Well done to Josh and Natalie, who each won the 8-9 year old category (boys and girls),” Stuart Bromley
