Today you will have received a Google Form from your child’s class teacher(s) to complete that shares your preferences regarding this term’s Parent Teacher Student Conferences (PTSCs).
We are so very excited that, as part of our curriculum and reporting review, students will be central to the conferences that discuss their learning for the first time. Our KLASS Learner attributes; Happy and Healthy, Respectful, Independent, Problem Solvers and Communicators can all be demonstrated through student involvement in these PTSCs.
Our students are taking increasing ownership of their learning, they are collaborators in curriculum design and culminating goal decisions and are increasingly able to articulate the aspects of their learning they are most proud of, or need the most support in. By teachers working in class to prepare students for the PTSCs, we believe that they will be confident and proud to share their achievements with you.
Students in the Foundation Stage and Year 1 will collaborate with their teacher to reflect on their learning journeys (on tapestry and on Evidence for Learning. Their views, comments, work and online portfolios of evidence will be the focus of the PTSCs in these year groups.
Students in Years 2 to 6 will actually attend the meetings and will be able to share their work, views, opinions and conclusions with you in person!
To ensure that the PTSCs are given the time that they rightly deserve, additional time has been allocated to each meeting. Parents, students and teachers will meet for between 20 and 25 minutes so that learning can truly be the focus on the conversations! Students will be at the centre of the discussions and the focus of all meetings will be learning!
This is such an important time for your child. They will be so keen to share their learning with you and to showcase the progress that they are making in school. We very much look forward to confirming your appointments as soon as we have had the forms completed. If you would like to read more about the importance of student involvement in PTCs there is an informative article here for your perusal.
We very much look forward to welcoming you at the PTSCs, Swimming Galas and Sports Carnivals coming up over the coming weeks as well as seeing many of you at the fantastic Year 6 challenge presentations next week and the Year 2 performances of A Bug’s Life the week after. We also have the Term 2 music concert on Tuesday 15th March coming up….so much to look forward to!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend
