Taking the initiative to devise a fundraising event and a soft toy collection drive has given me the opportunity to put back into society a community-minded spirit and compassion. The process of planning, contacting local agencies, and putting everything together has inspired me to think beyond my goals, and act solely for the welfare of disabled and neglected children.
Overall, we at the Alice Smith School raised RM 911.10 and collected 261 soft toys, with Fleming being the winner with 80 toys. Thank you so much! The toys were warmly received by the children from Shelter Home Orphanage, Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation and the Malaysian Association for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children. The ingenuous smiles and sense of appreciation in the children’s eyes has renewed in me a sense of hope and satisfaction by directly involving in the community that once raised me. If you give a little love, you get a little love of your own!
