A very warm welcome back to the Primary Campus.
It is wonderful to see you all after the long summer break. The children have so many fantastic tales to tell of friendships made, adventures survived and places travelled. I hope you all had a wonderful vacation spending time with family and friends.
A particularly warm welcome to all of our new families, many of you came for coffee in the hall this morning to mingle with members of the PTA welcoming committee. Our PTA are a fabulous resource for families, they know where to buy black leather shoes, the KLASS PTA Facebook page has many useful posts about school initiatives such as IPads etc. If you would like to meet with the PTA welcoming committee representatives there will be another informal coffee morning this Friday - come along, we look forward to seeing you there.
The Campus was abuzz this week as the parents and children alike familiarised themselves with the changes that took place over the summer.
Year 1 is looking magnificent with beautifully renovated classrooms and a fantastic new look shared classroom.
Year 2 now also have a shared classroom with teepee reading nooks and wonderful ‘cooking’ facilities to name just a few additions. As you know, the research of how ‘play’ ensures learning is extensive. These existing / new / refurbished areas allow students from Foundation Stage through to the end of Key Stage 1 to learn how they learn best, through authentic, spontaneous, creative play in a safe and guided environment. As such, please be reminded that the Year 2 area is no longer being used as a corridor - please walk through the Balinese garden instead to get from the hall to the field - more scenic and less disruptive to learning!
Our sport department have already been hard at work and information about sports trials came out on the first day back! Copies of all letters are on the Parent Portal for your convenience. The password to the portal has been changed to coincide with the start of term. Roger Schultz included the new password in his email to you on the first day back - ask at the office if you need a reminder!
The calendar is looking jam packed with exciting and interesting learning opportunities for the term ahead - please join us at our Parent Induction Evenings next week to find out more about the year ahead for your child(ren).
- Y5/6 and Foundation Stage - Tuesday 8th September
- Y3/4 - Wednesday 9th September
- Y1/2 - Thursday 10th September
There will be time to look round your child’s classroom and to meet the teacher between 5.30pm and 6pm, then there will be informative presentations on the term ahead for each year group. A letter will be coming out with more details for your convenience.
On communication, hopefully you have noticed that, following your feedback through the parent questionnaire, letters are coming home embedded in the emails we send you rather than as attachments. Hopefully this will reduce the number of ‘clicks’ you need to access the information you need!
I look forward to seeing many of you next week at the Parent Induction evenings, have a lovely weekend.
Wishing you a wonderful year of learning ahead!
