arrived at school this Monday morning to find a very different environment and
the school under siege by zombies. Had we walked into some movie set? Were we
still dreaming? No, it was Year 13’s last day with the theme ‘Out KLASS break’!
The students had a lovely day which culminated in a BBQ and pool party with the
6th Form team. Thank you to Mr Slade and Mr Connell for their 4am
start to the day and also to the 6th form team for their support for
making Monday such a memorable day. Please do take a look at some of the photos
of the day on our Facebook
have just completed our first full week of exams: A Levels and GCSEs. The exams
have been running like clockwork with students being well-prepared and managing
their stress well, due to the opportunities they have had during the year to
learn about techniques for dealing with stress and anxiety during exam time.
Thank you to Mr Lee and Cynthia, our Exams Manager, who continue to ensure that
the exams run smoothly, and to our very able team of invigilators.
have been working with our canteen provider in recent weeks to address some
concerns about increased prices in the canteen. We are pleased to report that
this is being resolved and a number of measures are being put in place to
ensure that we work together to publish and monitor prices. Please do read the
message from Mr Lazaro in today’s KLASS Times for more information about this
and also about the upcoming new improvements to our canteen provision.
and tomorrow we are hosting a Curriculum JAWS (Job Alike Workshop) which will
see teachers coming together from across the region to share and collaborate on
best practice, innovation and creativity in the curriculum. Last week we hosted
a similar event for EAL (English as an Additional Language) with some fantastic
collaboration on action research projects and the use of language across the
curriculum. These professional development opportunities really are invaluable
in ensuring we continue to provide excellent educational experiences for our
students and they model best practice in collaboration and building learning
networks. Thank you to our teachers involved in organising, leading and
attending these events.
this week, I sent an email to all parents with a link to the 2015 Parent
Survey. Can I please take this opportunity to remind you to complete the
survey? As I mentioned last week in sharing the analysis of the 2 Stars and a Wish coffee mornings, we really do value your opinion and feedback, and use it in
our planning for improvement.
Have a lovely weekend.
