The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship

As we get into the rhythm of the school year and the new students and staff are settling into the routines and relationships that come with starting at a new school it is great to see how quickly everyone has settled into the new academic year.

This has been exemplified with the excellent working relationships we have already forged in the leadership team which despite being relatively new as a team feels like we have worked together for years as we have quickly fallen into step with each other.

My huge thanks go to Mr McCarthy who has made Mr Ryan and I so welcome in recent weeks and months and as a team this brings a strong balance of Alice Smith experience and fresh eyes as we look to take our wonderful school forward to an even better place.

I'm particularly grateful to have such a strong and stable extended leadership team and I feel fortunate to have such a dedicated and experienced team around us.  The Director of Learning and five Vice-Principals bring years of Alice Smith wisdom and knowledge to the group with an average tenure at Alice Smith of 10+ years each which gives strong stewardship of the legacy we have at such a well established and loved school.

Similarly the Executive team brings great local knowledge and expertise which has been invaluable as I have navigated the last 11 months since being appointed as Headteacher.

My initial message to staff when I was onboarding in the Summer term was the power of harmony from the Alice Smith staff and used the metaphor of an orchestra where the music and magic happens while the conductor doesn't make a sound.  The term has started with a palpable sense of harmony and purpose which has been driven by our outstanding school leaders at all levels.

I feel very privileged to have such an experienced and dedicated set of leaders through the school and am very confident the school has all the ingredients to make this an unforgettable year of growth and connection. It truly is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, and with such a dedicated team working in harmony, our future is incredibly bright.
