Last Friday, all of the Year 9 students gathered for an assembly which highlighted the importance of speaking a foreign language in an ever expanding international environment.
As well as acquiring some essential information about languages at Key Stage 4 and 5, we looked at the career opportunities related to foreign languages and how highly communicative and linguistic skills are valued by employers. We completed a couple of quizzes which tested our knowledge about languages throughout the world and learned some interesting facts. We also played games using gibberish and sign language which emphasised how important it is to understand other cultures. Finally Mr Lee told us about his experience of learning languages and how these experiences can help to shape our future jobs, travels and dreams.
We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Options Evening on Wednesday 20th November to answer any of your GCSE language queries.
