This week, after a
long and agonizing wait, we saw our first meals served in the JB Student Dining
Year 4 were the
first year group to experience the menu on Monday with almost all students
choosing to try out the sample menus.
The wrist bands for
Asian, Western and Vegetarian meal options worked brilliantly and the whole
year group were served and seated, from classroom to Dining Hall, in just 8
minutes! They looked like they had been eating in the Dining Hall since
Reception! Behaviour was exemplary, plates were eaten clean and they cleared
their own trays before heading off to play.
Year 3 took their
turn on Tuesday with similar fantastic outcomes, additional coloured cards were
used to show the meal options to speed up the serving process even further –
these were a great success – Wednesday saw our first attempt at a two year
group sitting with the whole of Year 5 and 6 taking the culinary plunge! Years
1 and 2 finished off the week with fantastic behaviour, wonderful table manners
and great attitudes to trying new things on the menu! Well done to all the
staff who supported the students in making the trial such a success!
Reminder to parents,
there is a trial parent meal available on Tuesday 16th of December
in the Student Dining Hall, please contact the office if you would like to book

Also this week, the
APs and I had the pleasure of judging the Year 5 Dragon’s Den energy saving
challenge! Year 5 have been learning about renewable and non-renewable energy
sources all term; they have spoken to workers on oil rigs in the North sea,
researched how oil is made to create interactive artwork (using IPads and QR
codes – please see these outside the Campus Office) and then moved on to design
a marketable item that used renewable energy. The winning designs wrote pitches
to present to us ‘Dragons’ on Thursday – what articulate, entrepreneurial young
people! If I had money to invest I think I would be encouraging some patents to
be applied for now!
A huge well done to
the winning team from 5S; Rebecca L, Andrew K, Anant K and Lucie C, their
‘Multi-pipe 2018’ was supported by outstanding persuasive writing, a great
presentation, fabulous advert and appropriate poster – I have no doubt that
something like this will be on the market soon!
have continued to WOW audiences with their sensational renditions of Angels
Express with RM, PS, RI, PM and RT demonstrating their wonderful acting and
singing skills, they had two tough acts to follow… RS and RH were magnificent
last week, but the crowds all agreed that everyone did a stunning job! Well
done to one and all!
Thank you for those
of you who managed to join us at St. Mary’s Cathedral yesterday for the Carol
Service, being in such an iconic building listening to our wonderful choirs is
truly a sign that Christmas is nearly here… All the hard work of the wonderful
music departments across both Campuses really showed the student talents off at
their best. Many thanks to all who donated mince pies; it was a wonderful
festive evening all round.
