On Sunday 9th November, the Alice Smith Primary Choir led
the singing at the annual Remembrance Day Service at Tugu Negara, Jalan
This is an event organised by the British High Commission held in
honour of those who gave their lives for peace.
The service was attended by foreign ambassadors, High Commissioners and
Defence Advisers from over 20 countries. A two-minute silence was observed to
remember service personnel killed during conflicts around the world, before the
foreign dignitaries and visitors representing various organisations in Kuala
Lumpur laid wreaths at the base of the Cenotaph.
Year 6 Prefects, Trisha and Henry accompanied by Mrs Alison Nadarajah
presented a wreath on behalf of the school. The service was a moving one and
all our students in attendance behaved in a very mature manner. As well as our
choir, representatives from our school uniformed clubs were in attendance.
This year marks the centenary of the First World War (1914-1918), where
around 16.5 million people lost their lives and approximately 20 million people
