KLASS Charity Dinner is an Alice Smith
signature annual event ran by Sixth Form leaders, Interact Club and the PTA. This
year it will again be hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel. Students get to
participate through waiting and hosting the event, with full training from the
hotel, whether for experience or part of their Enrichment course.
KLASS Charity Dinner’s purpose is to create
various funding opportunities such as the silent auction and live auction in
which students can sell art work, teachers’ auction to hold a dinner catering
service to parents, performances by students and various other activities that
raise money for charities and community project works that are held during
trips week.
Last year was a huge success as we managed
to raise over RM40,000. The money raised was supported from parents, teaching
staff and other guests from our external community, and all funds went directly
to cause or to help fund the much needed community projects that take place
during trips week in early July.
As part of the Interact Club, we are happy and
excited that this event will be taking place again this academic year on 6th
March 2015 in which we hope to work with the whole school community to
participate in this wonderful opportunity to raise money for various charity
organisations.
KLASS parent’s review of last year’s event:
‘A wonderful opportunity to see first-hand just what students of the
Alice Smith School can do as they entertain and serve us. Watching the student
servers so proudly set down the plates in unison was a really lovely and
heart-warming sight.’
‘This is a unique opportunity to socialise with the school community
while supporting the students’ fundraising activities.’
