KLASS is world CLASS
Often I am asked by parents what it takes for a
school to be outstanding. Is it having well behaved, motivated and enthusiastic
children? Is it having knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking and committed
teachers? Is it having parents who are interested and engaged in their
children’s education? Is it having a learning environment that nurtures and
cares for its students yet challenges and elevates their thinking to new
levels? Is it having resources to support and enhance opportunity? Is it having
a curriculum with the scope, variety and depth to broaden and enrich learning
In the very best schools, it is all of these
things and more. It is a belief, culture and expectation of ourselves that our
school experience should be the best it can be for everyone. It is the
professional practices that reflect this belief on a daily basis and the
learning outcomes that validate these expectations.
This week the visiting team of five inspectors
here for our British Schools Overseas (BSO) accreditation have validated that
Alice Smith is an outstanding school, with two excellent campuses. They have
visited over 130 lessons across both our campuses; spent time in meetings and
having conversations with children, staff and parents; looked at the depth,
scope and effectiveness of our curriculum and reviewed our self-evaluation
outcomes against everything they have seen, heard and witnessed over an intense
four day period.
This outcome does not come easy and it is a
reflection of a community that wants the best for all of its members. We all
have a part to play and we all have much to be proud of about our school.
The full report from the inspection will be
shared with you in the near future.
Have a safe weekend and enjoy this week’s
