There are two phases to the main block project currently underway, the
north wing expansion and renovation of the English and Mathematics faculties
and the construction of the 3-floor administration wing.
roof level for the three floor administration wing is nearing its completion
stage and internal partitioning work is well underway on the ground floor
level. The shape of the wing is now clearly visible. When the construction
shell is complete, the steel framework for the façade of the wing will be
fitted which will then allow further interior partitioning and glazing work to
an additional safety measure, the current hoarding area on the MFL/Exams office
side of the administration wing will be widened to take into consideration the
increased height of the building work that is now underway.
The steel trusses to support the additional slab floor and roof levels
for the extension of the north wing classroom areas were fitted last weekend
and the level 2 floor slab should be completed in the next 2 weeks. The roof
level will then be added. The widening of these floor level slabs to create
additional teaching and learning areas is also well underway. The next stages
will involve attaching the steel framework for the façade of which will then
allow further interior partitioning and glazing work to be completed prior to
the final ID work.
are currently discussing the best approach to manage the transition from these
first two phases of main block development project and the final phase (the MFL
teaching and learning spaces). This has been the focus for recent discussions
by the master plan subcommittee of the Council with the contractors and
consultants. We will give you an update on this later in May.
