On Thursday 13th February 2014, the annual inter-house sports day event was held at the Secondary Campus. This is one of the 3 main house sports events of the year.
Things kicked off in the morning with the field events. Students either throwing or jumping were able to leave their normal lessons in order to do their event. As well as the shot put, discus, javelin and long jump event, the morning also saw the 800m race being run.
After an early lunch, the main event began and the whole school in their 4 house colours made their way to the back field for the sprint events. The atmosphere was electric, the sun was shining and competitors from all 4 houses tried their hardest to win a medal. We saw some excellent performances and throughout the day, 42 new athletic records were broken. In fact, the Year 7 girls broke every existing record for their year group bar one event.
We had a very close climax with the relay races being the deciding races separating the first and second positions. Congratulations to the mighty greens – SCOTT, who were triumphant on the day.
