The first annual KL
Primary Maths Challenge, which took place at the end of January ended on a high
Top Maths students
from different schools in Kuala Lumpur were invited to participate and we were
pleased to welcome 12 teams of four students. The schools attending were GIS,
BSKL, NEXUS, DPC and KLASS.
Beginning with an
exciting Maths Trail around KLCC Park, the children worked extremely hard for
two days and were tested via a number of different challenges including both
individual and group events which allowed them to earn points for themselves
and their teams. Other events included a construction challenge, co-ordinates
team challenge and an i-pad direction challenge. Special thanks to Paul McMahon
from 3PL Learning who came especially from Australia to run the Mathletics
The contest was
closely fought and the top three teams were neck and neck all the way. In a
nail biting finish, ‘Spicy Chili’ from KLASS came out top with BSKL’s ‘Squared
Pi’ following closely for 2nd place. Another KLASS team, ‘Pi Pie’,
took 3rd place.
all the teams that participated and sincere thanks to the teachers and students
from each school for their enthusiasm and efforts.
We are already
looking forward to next year’s competition!
