Just a short note from me this week to coincide with the somewhat shorter week due to the two public holidays. You will have all received the revised academic calendar yesterday and the reasons for the slight changes. Thank you for your understanding. You are able to access the revised calendar for 2013-2014 together with the calendar for 2014-2015 on the Term Dates page on our website, accessible from the homepage.
Kate, Roger and I leave for the UK this evening to finalise our recruitment of teachers for September 2014. We have invested a lot of time in recent weeks selecting high quality potential teachers for the Alice Smith School for interview. Our main aim is always to recruit the very best teachers for the school who will contribute to its growth, reinforce the spirit of the school and who will bring out the best in every student they teach. Of course we must also ensure that the very best candidates choose the Alice Smith School.
Mr Pearce will be Acting Principal at the Primary Campus, Mr Lazaro and Mr Connell will be overseeing the Secondary Campus during our absence and Mr Lee will also be assisting in the recruiting interviews in the UK.
The school term really picks up pace next week as we welcome over 300 students, their coaches and supporters to the SEASAC Rugby and Division 1 Touch Tournament being held at the Secondary Campus. May I wish everyone the best of luck.
There are also many students going on school trips this term to further support and bring to life the work done in class. Trips next week include visits to the Chinese Temple, the Planetarium, Nottingham University and Port Dickson.
Best wishes to you all for an enjoyable long weekend.
