A warm welcome back to the start of 2014, particularly to those new families that are joining our school. I trust you all had a safe and restful Christmas holiday period.
It has been a smooth start to the new term, with Year 11 mock exams and AS re-sits now well underway. ECAs for Term 2 will commence next week and sports trips and events start in earnest very soon, with football, basketball, Rugby, Touch and swimming featuring strongly on the calendar. We are hosting the SEASAC Rugby and Touch Football Tournament at Equine Park from 24th - 26th January. At this time, we are also sending four teams overseas to SEASAC Basketball and Tennis in Singapore and Jakarta respectively. We are expecting around 300 participants for Rugby and Touch as well as supporting parents over the weekend of the competition.
GCSE and A Level option blocks are being looked at now following the recent choices made by Year 9 and 11 students for next academic year. The Year 12 PTSC evening is next week on Wednesday 15th January and is closely followed by the Year 8 PTSC evening scheduled for Tuesday 21st January.
Work has also commenced on the development and expansion of the Main Block over the Christmas period.
Term 1 was an intense time for Year 13 students and it is great to hear of successful offers starting to come through to our Year 13 students for higher education places.
I will be away in London from Friday 17th to Wednesday 29th January on a recruitment trip for staff for next year. Mr Lee will also be in London to assist with the interview programme for staff for next year. Mr Lazaro will be Acting Secondary Principal and will oversee the operations of the Secondary Campus during this time.
Please remember to phone or email me email@example.com or even better, arrange a time with my PA to drop into the Secondary Campus and see me if you would like to discuss a secondary school issue with me.
