The KLASS Saturday Morning Sports Club has now been successfully running for two years. Exclusively for the Alice Smith community, it was set up to add a weekend extension to our sports ECA programme, enhancing the school’s ethos of ‘Sport For All’.
The morning club takes place at both our campuses with students from Reception through to Key Stage 4 taking part. Utilising our fantastic facilities, both Alice Smith staff and a team of experienced external coaches deliver activities which include basketball, football, netball, street dance, swimming, tennis and junior tri club. Next year, the programme will have the benefit of our brand new sports centre at our Secondary Campus, and we hope this will enable the programme to broaden and include badminton, bouldering/climbing, cricket, crossfit (for both students and parents) and volleyball.
The focus of the sessions are on training and development, with an overarching ethos of fun and enjoyment. Both of our campuses are now community hubs for Saturday morning sporting activity and it has been great to see so many students and parents actively involved. We will continue to do our best to provide a schedule of activities which appeals to students across the whole school, whilst managing our busy hosting schedule and other sporting activities alongside the programme.
