Lightning and thunderstorms are a feature of living in Malaysia and part of our everyday life here. We take our safety routines extremely seriously and, after a particularly violent thunderstorm on Thursday, I thought it would be worthwhile to share our procedures with you that ensures everyone remains safe.
The school has a lightning warning system, Thor, which activates if lightning is detected in the local vicinity. If that is the case, a loud horn sounds followed by red and orange lights flashing around the campus.

Lightning warning system in school
When this happens, the children and staff know to take cover in the school until the storm has passed, the horn sounds 3 times for the ‘all clear’ and the warning lights go off.
The storm this week arrived just before dismissal from ECAs. If this is the case, we ask for your patience as we need to ensure that both our staff (guards outside helping with traffic) and our children remain safe. This may mean a delay in releasing the children or our staff sheltering until it is safe to be outside. This may also mean that the guards advise you to stay within school grounds until the storm has passed - if you wish to leave the premises, you may do so, but the guards will not be able to stop the traffic until it is safe. By following these procedures, we can ensure all of our community stays safe. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Year 6 Challenge Presentation
Last week, our Year 6 students presented their new skills to parents as part of their Year 6 Challenge for this year. Parents and staff were impressed by the Year 6’s confident delivery, their passion for their new found interests and the life skills they have learnt from seeing this process through from beginning to end. Well done to all the Year 6 children and to Mrs Quarm for organising the challenge.

Principal Drop in
Between 7:45 am and 8:30 am on Wednesday 21st March, I will be holding a Principal's drop-in if you would like to come along for an informal chat and a cup of tea or coffee. Our Vice Principals will be dropping in as well. I look forward to seeing you in Bellamy 1 (near the Parent’s Deli).

ISAC and Development U11 Football Tournaments, 2018
Congratulations to the students who took part in the U11 Boy's ISAC and Development Football Tournaments at KLASS EP and the U11 Girl's ISAC and Development Tournaments at Nexus International School, Putrajaya on Saturday, 3rd March 2018. KLASS fielded 5 teams in the various competitions - playing against teams from 10 other international schools in Kuala Lumpur. Many teachers, parents and families were in attendance and their support was greatly appreciated.
Our KLASS Lions teams did the school proud; playing with great spirit, skill and sportsmanship. Four teams won medals on the day: the Boy's Black team were champions of the ISAC Tournament, the Boy's Green team won gold in the Development Tournament, the Girl's Black team took bronze in the ISAC Tournament, and the Girl's Green team also came third in the Development tournament.

Thank you to Mr Martyn Pilkington, Mr Scott McRae, and Mr Sam Bottom for their coaching and the rest of the Primary PE team for all of their hard work on the day and across the whole season.
