Starting on 13th November 2017, KLASSComm brings to Alice Smith the much anticipated International Week! A week where we celebrate the diversity within the school community, this is an annual event that all the students love to participate in.
The daily themes for this week will introduce students to the cultures of each continent. Africa, on Monday, features a Dance Assembly, a House Competition where students will be quizzed on fun facts about the continent, and a History-Economics talk about Africa’s progress to where it is now.
On Tuesday, the day will start out with a tutor quiz on Asia. This will be followed by a fantastic performance at break, and an exciting Kabaddi match during lunch. The day of the Americas, Wednesday, starts out with a tutor quiz on some really obscure but interesting information on both North and South America. At break, there will be a pinata competition, and Mr Biring will lead a line dancing lesson at lunch! I’m sure we’ll be buzzing with enthusiasm after this day.
Thursday focuses on Europe and will, again, introduce students to some facts via a quiz in the morning. At break, students will have Scottish dance lessons from Ms McAteer, and at lunch, they will have the opportunity to watch a live MUN debate on tolerance.
The final day of the week brings the world together with the theme ‘Global’ and the Food Fair at lunch is certainly the most enticing aspect of the week. The prospect of delicious, home-cooked dishes makes my mouth water! Friday will start out with the Fashion Walk Assembly where students, teachers and non-teaching staff sport colourful traditional outfits from a range of countries. It really is a magnificent sight. At break, we will test students’ Geography skills through a world map House Competition.
We have a packed week coming up and we can’t wait to share this with all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
