The 2017 Prefect Retreat was a day and a half of jam-packed team building activities, workshops and thought provoking discussion. Our newly appointed Prefect and KLASS Community Team traveled to Malacca to explore the importance of their roles for the upcoming academic year, and to get a head start on turning some of their ideas into real actions.
The students’ communication, problem solving and, of course, leadership skills were put to the test in a series of challenges that aimed to enhance the cohesion amongst them. The retreat not only led to personal growth of each individual involved, but also helped the development of new friendships within the Sixth Form community.
The interactive session between the Prefects and Head Students proved incredibly worthwhile in producing exciting and inspiring plans for the future. This activity gave the opportunity for the Head Student team to talk about their personal styles of leadership. In particular, how they approach their responsibilities while balancing academic and extra-curricular commitments. The Prefects responded very positively, engaging in the discussion and asking questions to further their personal development. To top it all, everyone gathered around a blazing bonfire on Friday night, roasting marshmallows and befriending the retreat's friendly canine inhabitants.
Once again, this year's prefect and KLASS Comm team are a bunch of brilliant, outgoing, and talented young leaders. The school looks forward to seeing their work impact the Alice Smith community more than ever before.
