On Saturday, Matthew Trott won the U14 event (250m swim, 7km bike and 2.5km run) against 29 other competitors by a huge margin of over 2 mins. His brother, Oliver had to race in against a field of 72 competitors in an extended category of 15-29 year old, Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run). His excellent time of almost exactly 1 hour was just 15 seconds behind the winning athlete. Oliver finished second ahead of all his older team-mates in difficult weather conditions.
Just a few hours later on Sunday morning, the boys competed in the Singapore Metasprint Triathlon. Oliver, again had to compete in the longer Sprint category against older athletes. Despite a strong current, Oliver had a good swim and a reasonable bike leg. In the run he overhauled all the leaders to win the event and take the 3 race series in his finest weekend of racing yet. He not only beat the Singaporean National Athletes in the 16-19 age-group but also beat those in the 20-24 age-group.
