Best wishes to all of our Year 11, 12 and 13 students who commence study leave for external examinations from today. Our graduating Year 13 students have already received excellent offers from universities and we look forward to hearing of their final destinations later this year.
Each year our students secure places at excellent universities across the UK, from the big London universities (Imperial, King’s, LSE and UCL) to universities in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Last year 55% of our students entered Russell Group universities (considered to be research-intensive, world-class universities), with three students embarking on degrees at Cambridge.
All the students who pursued higher education placements internationally secured their chosen university, embarking on courses across the world at universities such as Brown University in the USA, University of British Columbia in Canada, Yale-NUS in Singapore, Melbourne University in Australia and Trinity College, Dublin.
Next week, we will start to share with you some changes in our teaching staff for the start of next academic year. One of the strengths of Alice Smith is the quality and dedication of our teachers who are passionate about their work and committed to being outstanding professionals.
They are high achieving professionals with a strong pedagogical knowledge who innovative and creative learning opportunities for the children. They are confident, caring, helpful and supportive of students, colleagues and parents implement, using best practice to achieve all-round excellence and enhance learning. Using their abundant energy and enthusiasm, they demonstrate a strong commitment to the happiness, well-being and achievement of children as well as to their wider learning and development through an enriched curriculum and co-curricular activities.
A key factor in the continuing success of Alice Smith is that each year we are able to replace the wonderful teachers who leave our school with excellent new colleagues. The vast majority of new teachers joining us are aware of the quality of education at our school and the exceptional learning environment they will be joining.
Work is progressing well on our next exciting phase of facilities development at the Secondary Campus. The Master Plan Sub-committee (MPS) of the Council of Governors has provided a form here if you would like to give any feedback or suggestions regarding this facilities development project. The campus master plan site (on KLASS Gateway) has further information about this next phase of development, including the EGM presentation held in October last year. We are continuing to add to this site as the project continues.
Don’t forget the MAD Show at the Secondary Campus opening on Thursday 15th June. The show runs for one week and features the outstanding work of our older students in Media, Art, Photography and Design. Miss it, miss out!
KLASSgateway.edu.my is continuing to be developed as a one-stop “gateway” and central portal for school-home communication. In addition to the direct link above, there is also a link to the KLASS Gateway on the main page of the school website. Please remember to keep in touch with school life through our Alice Smith School Twitter and Facebook accounts.
