Happy New Year! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
A very warm welcome back to school to our returning families and also to our new students and families joining us this term.
Our last week in school was a very fitting way to finish a productive and exciting term of what was a momentous 70th anniversary year. In the last week alone, we had the pastoral Christmas tutor room decoration competition, Media Film Festival, celebration assemblies, the House sing off, the staff ‘talentless’ show and staff appreciation day.
One of the things that sticks most in my mind was seeing the growing volume of shoeboxes being delivered to the pastoral area by tutor groups with the shoebox gift appeal. It was incredible that, thanks to students, families and staff, we had a Christmas present to give to every child in the UNHCR school we work with. Together with the Presents Under the Tree Appeal, we had a present for every child in the Lighthouse orphanage. With no KLASS Times message in the final week of term, if you would like to read more, please click here.
We now have a short half term leading up to the mid-term break and Chinese New Year and I would like to take this opportunity to highlight a few key upcoming events. Between the 21st and 23rd January, we are hosting the SEASAC Arts Festival. This promises to be an amazing event and I would like to thank our CE Arts team for their inspirational work in putting together such a strong programme of activities. May I encourage you to explore the website created by the team for the event? Later that week on 24th January, we will have our third Wider Learning Day and Mr Lazaro will be sending further information soon. Finally, on our last day of the half term, Thursday 26th, we will be holding Fleming Charity Day. These are just three key events to be aware of, but there are many other activities taking place in school daily, so please keep an eye on our calendar and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
Continued best wishes to our Year 11 students who are now taking their mock exams. They are so far demonstrating great maturity in their approach to their studies and to the exams themselves.
Have a lovely weekend
