We feel that it's really important for schools to collaborate and share expertise, such as during 'TeachMeets' and 'Job Alike Workshops' where teachers regularly share good practice. We decided to take this collaboration further with some of our students during the second Wider Learning Day, in order to give them some extra preparation for their upcoming Oxbridge interviews.
A programme was devised where our students, together with GIS students, were able to participate in a series of seminars and tutorials to give them a flavour of what it's like to learn at one of the Oxbridge Colleges. After completing their advanced reading on a diverse set of topics ranging from political philosophy to chemical engineering, they were given the chance to debate, listen and extend their learning through subject specific seminars which became smaller and more specialised throughout the day.
Following this, we all conducted mock interviews so that everyone gets a taste of being interviewed by someone they don't know, in a rigorous academic environment. It was lovely to see such a collegiate atmosphere, and there was a real buzz and sense of academia in the air! A lot of work has been done by the subject specialists here at KLASS, alongside our dedicated Higher Education team, to help all of our students with applications, and I would like to publicly thank them for their efforts and help to ensure that our students are as prepared as they can be.
