Carlus has worked for the Alice Smith School as a Teacher Assistant for over
eleven years. At present, she works alongside Guto Aaron in 3T and is an
invaluable member of the Year 3 team.
of Clara’s sons, Kelvin, aged 22, recently started studying medicine here in
Malaysia, having successfully gained a Government scholarship.
Unfortunately, his studies have had to be postponed following a diagnosis of
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Kelvin’s treatment involves a minimum of six
cycles of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy. Additional treatment
will be required if complications transpire. Kelvin is presently in
hospital receiving the second cycle of his chemotherapy.
for Lymphoma is fortunately becoming far more successful and his family are
staying positive. However, the treatment is extremely costly and his
medical insurance does not cover it in full. At this point, the initial
sum of money available from the insurance has been exhausted.
staff at Alice Smith are very keen to support Clara and her family and have
begun to make plans to fund raise a significant sum of money to support Kelvin
and Clara fund the treatments necessary for his recovery. We are also
aware that there may be members of our community who wish to contribute towards
this fund and as such we have placed a donation box in the office.
Proceeds from Andy Boase’s Charity
Calendar to help Kelvin
Boase, a teacher at Alice Smith until last year was also diagnosed with
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is currently receiving treatment in the UK. Andy, a
keen film buff and a wicked sense of humour has made a calendar which is now on
sale to Alice Smith families for RM50. Andy wishes that all proceeds of the
calendar help fund Kelvin’s treatment.
you would like to order a calendar please complete this form and together with
the payment give it in to the office.
generosity of the Alice Smith parents has been proven over and over again and
for this we are extremely grateful. We do hope that together we can
provide some very tangible help to Clara and her son. If we can provide
help today I am sure Kelvin, once his medical studies have been completed, will
help many others in the future.
