Late evening, Friday 23rd September, GIS Dragons hosted the first session of their inaugural Early Fire swim meet.
This session was Long Distance events from 800m down to 400m Individual Medley. GIS & KLASS swimmers made up the bulk of the entries and performed superbly with nearly every swimmer winning a medal. This trend of success continued into the second and third days of the meet.
A goodie bag was awarded to each gold medalist and we had so many that Mr Bromley could not carry them all! There were hundreds of PB's and at the end of the competition, KLASS had accumulated the highest points score.
On the final day, the event finished with the senior age group SKINS event. This is where the top six 100m freestylers race 6 rounds of 50m free in an elimination/drop off format. In the girls' race, KLASS took all 6 final places with Kimberley Ong winning the final round whilst in the boys' event, KLASS supplied 4 of the 6 finalists with 2 of them making the final 2. The boys champion was Falk Meier who put in an excellent exhibition of repeat sprints.
Many thanks to all the parents and coaches who supported the team over the event and the results do certainly bode well for ISAC later this term.
