Both campuses 'overdid it with denim' to show our support for Jeans for Genes Day 2016.
The Jeans for Genes Day is a global campaign which raises awareness of genetic disorders, particularly those affecting young children.
At EP, the day was observed in conjunction with the Malaysia dress-up day on 15th September. A special assembly was held, where Year 13 Head Students spoke about the campaign to educate the student body on the cause. This was abruptly 'interrupted' by Science Teachers, Mr Mullan and Mr Morris who presented a clever educational adventure modelled after the current Pokemon Go craze, titled "Poke-Genome Go", that encourages students to answer questions on genetic disorders to reveal maps of Pokemons around the school, which will then lead to more questions and ultimately a prize for the winner that completes it. House points will also be awarded for all students who take part.
At JB, students wore jeans to school on the actual globally observed day, ie today 23rd September. Funds collected from the dress up contributions will be channelled to this campaign.
