The trials for the SEASAC XC team on Saturday 3rd September was the first event to be held on the new running track of the Sports Complex at Equine Park. Over 40 runners turned out on Saturday morning for the inaugural race on the new track.
Two new school records were broken:
- The boys school record for 5KM was broken by Oliver Trott in Year 10 in a time of 17 minutes and 20 seconds
- Siobhan Doyle in Year 8 broke the girls 3KM school record in a time of 12 minutes and 32 seconds.
After seeing and running on the track for the first time last week, I knew that it was a fast track but could never have believed that we would get two new records on the first outing. Oliver's run was particularly outstanding as he ran solo and lapped everyone in the field.
Well done to all and I am looking forward to hopefully updating everyone on many more records to come in the future.
