The PTA Summer Fair is here again! Please join us at the Secondary Campus tomorrow to welcome in the summer. A huge thank you to the PTA for all of the work this year and for making this year’s fair another great event.
Next week on Monday 27th June, we are having a very special visitor to our Primary Campus - His Royal Highness The Duke of York KG. Arrangements at the campus for HRH visit on the morning of Monday 27th June were communicated with parents yesterday by email and letter.
The visit will take place before lunch from 11:00am to 12:00 midday and HRH will be accompanied during the visit by H.E. Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, British High Commissioner to Malaysia. We are delighted to be invited by the British High Commission to host this special visit during our 70th anniversary year.
As part of the visit, we are also hosting an exhibition of the Bentley ‘Be Extraordinary’ School Competition in the Bellamy Meeting Rooms in the One Stop Centre. Five schools, including Alice Smith, have teams involved in this competition. Bentley will have a car on display on the astro-turf area near the Jalan Kerayong entrance to the campus on Monday and Tuesday.
HRH visit will mean there will be some minor changes to the operation of the Primary Campus that day, with the safety and security of everyone at the campus for the visit our highest priority. If you have any questions about the arrangements at the school for HRH visit on the morning of Monday 27th June that we have sent to you, can you please contact Mrs Nadarajah (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ms Thistleton (email@example.com) at the Primary Campus.
Our Yearbook and Ad Astra, both circulated this week, are wonderful collection of words and images showing the vast array of exciting events, achievements, performances and people that make our school such a special community to be a part of. We hope you enjoy these annual publications.
Things are heating up with preparations for Frozen, this year’s Year 6 Show. We look forward to recognising the achievements of many students at our Presentation and Farewell Assemblies on Friday 1st July at JB and Monday 4th July at EP which is also Founder’s Day (Alice Smith’s birthday). These events, together with the Year 13 Valedictory and Farewell assemblies, will bring our celebrations for this academic year to an end.
Last week, I mentioned some changes to our Secondary Campus staff for the start of the new academic year. Other staff leaving us in the summer include Mr Burlingham, Mr Bish, Mr Spence and Mr John Williams from the science faculty, Ms Kahn, Ms Rahim and Ms Raymer. Other new staff joining the Secondary Campus in August are Amanda Coates, Rebecca Carville, Will Payne, Valerie Quayle, Joshua Doyle, Hardip Biring, Rachael Gibson, James Collinson and Helen Szelesi.
I would like to wish all of our leaving staff from both campuses this year a very fond farewell as they move on to new professional and personal challenges and bid a warm welcome to the new staff who will be joining us in August. The staff directory on the Parent portal will be updated with new staff information for the start of the new academic year.
You are invited to a presentation to hear more about the next phase for facilities development at the Equine Park Secondary Campus of Alice Smith School.
