It was a right royal treat to host five musicians and Warrant Officer Davies from the Welsh Guards regiment, who are here on holiday with their "musket, fife and drums". They marched to the Transpo area in full regalia and performed an exciting display to the great excitement of staff and students alike.
It was great opportunity for the students to meet with them individually. They very kindly allowed students to try on their tall bearskin hats and try out their instruments, whilst asking all manner of questions - what do you keep in that pouch, have you ever killed anyone and have you ever met the Queen?
They were lovely, down-to-earth soldiers, humble and friendly, and it was a real pleasure to meet them. Many thanks to Warrant Officer Neil Anderson for proposing the visit.
