I wish that time could just slow down! The end of term is accelerating towards us at a rate of knots and the Campus is abuzz with energy and enthusiasm for learning.
Learning, learning everywhere! Parents and staff alike, all around the school, are modelling fantastic attitudes to learning.
Parents workshops this week have been on both ‘The Coaching Parent’ and ‘1:1 IPads in Year 5’ with over 100 parents participating as learners in school! Fantastic turn-outs for our internal and external facilitators - thank you for your support.
Those of you who saw James Mackenzie Wright’s talk on Wednesday; about how to support your children through a coaching model, will hopefully have spent time reflecting on his suggestions around thinking, listening and questioning at home. I know that in our house, relationships have improved now that I am modelling better listening techniques!
Students have been mesmerised by the gradual emergence of the mural outside Year 3 and Year 4. Our visiting mural artist, Gary Latimer, has included and incorporated artistic inspiration from students in his design and, as an artist in residence, has in turn inspired the students in their artwork creations.
Foundation Stage 2 students had a fabulous time, once the rain had stopped, in their swim gala on Wednesday! The Sports Carnival on Thursday for Foundation Stage 2 was an amazing demonstration of how physical development can be fun, authentic and engaging! The audience delighted in the squeals of enjoyment throughout!
Over the last 3 weeks of term, I am meeting with each member of teaching staff to reflect on the learning journey they have been on at Alice Smith. Already, through the meetings so far, I am overwhelmed once again by the professional drive, energy and passion of the teachers here at JB. The staff survey this year showed that:
- 98% of staff feel they are encouraged to learn and improve
- 96% of staff feel they are expected to reflect on their professional practice
We are so proud of the feedback we have received from both parents and staff about the direction the school is going.
Planning ahead, please mark your diary, the PTA Summer Fair is on Saturday 25th of June 10am to 2pm at EP. More information can be found here.
Have a great weekend ahead!
