The Year 6-7 Transition Coffee Morning on Monday was a great success!
This informal Q&A session at JB - facilitated by PTA members who are also Year 6 parents - offered other Year 6 parents the opportunity to quiz current Year 7 parents on aspects of moving from JB to EP; getting answers to all those niggly little practical questions that only parents can think of! Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it; the notes taken at the event are being typed up and will be shared amongst the Year 6 parent body along with relevant presentations from previous parent visits to EP as offered by the school (next Parent Visit for Year 6 parents is on 17th June - note the date in your diary!).
Just over a month to go to the Summer Fair - a very special one this year as it falls within our 70th Anniversary year - Saturday, 25th June @ EP 10am-2pm. We’re also very grateful to accept donations for raffle prizes for the Fair; please contact the PTA via email if you would like to donate something for the raffle draw. This week the Planning Team met with Class/Year Reps to discuss the Year Stalls, so keep an eye out for the stall sign-up sheets which will be shared via Google doc soon!
Hopefully you’ve seen the boxes at campus offices where we’re collecting your second-hand books, toys and boardgames to sell at the Fair. Please ensure you only donate complete, good-quality items, in a condition in which you’d be prepared to buy them.
Also, once again YKY Bus Services are kindly sponsoring a free return bus to transport KLASS families from JB to EP and back again on the day (see posters for booking details).
Posters are also up asking for donations of cakes and bakes nearer the time for the Bake Stall - so please start thinking about what you may like to send in!
Connecting charities with Alice Smith Parents and Students: The PTA have set up a database with the aim of connecting charities with school parents and students who are looking for volunteer opportunities. The database includes details of local charities looking for volunteers together with a link contact whom you can email for more details. Click here to view the database. This is a new project and more charities will be added over time. Please note that the contact information listed has been collated for Alice Smith parents only. Please do not share this outside of the school.
If you work closely with a charity and would like to be added to the database as a link contact or would like to volunteer to be a link contact for a charity not currently listed, please email email@example.com
We are very excited to announce our first ever Back to School Social on Sunday 4th September 2016 out at EP from 10am to noon. The morning is meant to welcome new families into our community and of course welcome back existing families. It will be an opportunity for all families to learn about the different clubs, societies and volunteering opportunities available in KL.
If you are part of a club, society or charity please let us know, by Wednesday 25th of May, via the google doc here, so we can invite them to participate.
More information on this social event will be coming your way soon. Do note the date in your diary now, it promises to be a fun event for the whole family!
Looking even further ahead, members of the PTA Committee are thrilled to be involved in the planning of the 70th Anniversary Platinum Gala Ball on the evening of Friday 11th November. Formal invitations were sent out by the school along with details of other 70th Anniversary activities last week. The cost is RM350 per person which includes a 4-course meal and free flow drinks. This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this milestone with friends of the school, past and present. Tables are already being snapped up for what is promising to be an unforgettable and glitzy occasion. Click here for the booking form and/or request further information by emailing PGBSales. You can also access these links via www.alice-smith.edu.my (click on ‘KLASS 70’, top right of the Home page, then follow the link to the list of anniversary activities).
