On Saturday 7th May, the U15 Girls Touch Rugby team competed in the final round of the ISAC competition held at the Alice Smith secondary campus. After multiple rounds played on Tuesdays at ISKL in their own pool, the KLASS Lions managed to come out undefeated and on top of the table, resulting in the team being put in the championship pool for the final round. The first game on the Saturday was against ISKL Yellow; with fast rucks and superb communication, the girls won 3-2. The subsequent game saw an unbeatable first half with the score being 3-0 to the Lions, however, the opposition managed to catch up in the second half which precipitated a draw for the second game. The third game against MKIS was the deciding factor on whether or not the Lions would be able to participate in the first/ second final. With this in mind, everyone had a determined attitude which was evident in the quality of gameplay throughout the match. This intense game had a final score of 0-1 and worried the girls as they wondered whether they would be playing for first or third. After careful calculations, everyone in the KLASS team was overjoyed to find out that their place in the first/ second final was waiting for them.
For the last match of the day, the KLASS Lions were ready to give it their all - inspirational talks from Coach Amir and lines of encouragement from all the other members of the team created an insistent mindset to win. The first half against MKIS in the final ended with a score of 0-0, intensifying the situation. Upping their game, the girls played immaculate moves coupled with speed for then Izzy Ricotta, Lily Williams and Kylie Compton to score touchdowns; the excellent teamwork resulted in a 3-0 win to the girls. Congratulations to the U15 Girls Touch Rugby Team as their hot day concluded with a gold medal!
