Thank you to all those students who participated in the the British High Commission Art and Poetry competitions, celebrating the 90th Birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Congratulations to our students who were selected to have their work displayed at the birthday function for HM held at the Majestic Hotel on Thursday night. It was wonderful to see our students’ work exhibited at such a large function.
The excitement is mounting as we approach the final stages of work on the outdoor sports facilities at the Secondary Campus. The Master Plan sub-committee of the Council held their regular meeting at the site office at Equine Park last week to discuss the project and see the progress first hand.
We are looking forward to sharing pictures of the completed facilities before the summer break.
Our 70th anniversary celebrations are making this calendar year a very special one for our school community. All seats for the 70th Anniversary Alice Smith Celebration Lunch with BMCC on Wednesday, 11th May 2016 at the DoubleTree by Hilton KL Hotel have been taken and we are looking forward to joining with the Selangor St. Andrew’s Society for the KL Highland Games on Sunday 8th May at Bukit Kiara, as one of our featured anniversary events this year.
The official opening of our new outdoor sports facilities at the Secondary Campus will be on 7th September, early in the new school year. The date for the opening coincides with the annual BMCC Rugby Dinner Charity Fundraiser. Three former world rugby players - Ronan O’Gara (Ireland), Craig Chalmers (Scotland) and Nathan Sharpe (Australia) will be in KL as special guests of the BMCC for the fundraiser. We are very excited that they will be running some clinics for students at the Alice Smith Secondary Campus on that day in support of the opening celebrations for our new facilities.
Regular monitoring of the effect of the haze on air quality is taking place at both campuses. We ask for your understanding as decisions are taken with regards to any changes to normal school routines and planned events and programmes on a day-to-day basis.
