This year’s ski trip was to a resort that we had not previously visited before called Passo Del Tonale in Italy.
After flying into Milan, we then transferred by mini-coach to our resort high up in the Italian Alps. Upon arriving at the village, we were excited to see skiers actually skiing by the side of the road - the resort truly was ski-in, ski-out. Our hotel was literally a stone's throw from the piste and the ski lifts up the mountain.
Having gotten ourselves organised for the week with the correct clothing and equipment, we were ready to hit the slopes the following day. Each morning we were all up early (8am) and after a hearty breakfast, we would assemble into the ski/snowboarding groups and off we went to attend the lessons with our instructors. Having spent each morning in our groups, starting on the nearby blue runs and progressing onto the other more challenging and longer blues, reds and sometimes black runs, we all returned to the hotel for our 3 course hot lunch in the restaurant.
After the lunch break, lessons would reconvene where we spent the afternoon continuing to learn new skills and techniques on the snow covered mountains. We explored the whole Adamello ski area ranging from neighbouring valley runs, the slopes of Ponte di Legno and even way up to the 3000m glacier.
Having completed the afternoon sessions, we would return to the hotel to put our equipment in the heated ski store room and freshen up with a nice hot shower. Après ski activities followed which involved various fun filled pursuits over the week, such as playing in the snow, sledging, shopping in the village, watching a movie, swimming, playing games, presentations and simply just chilling out in the hotel.
Each evening meal was once again held in the hotel where we got to eat typical tasty Italian cuisine especially prepared for us by the chef. On other evenings we were treated to dining in a pizzeria and even visited the neighbouring picturesque village of Ponte di Legno for shopping, swimming and an amazing meal in a 5* hotel.
After six great days of skiing and snowboarding, which passed by far too quickly, we unfortunately had to say our goodbyes to the mountains and head back home.
I know everyone had a great time and we look forward to next year’s trip where all students (whether complete beginners of seasoned pros) can have the opportunity to enjoy what is sure to be another brilliant Alice Smith ski trip experience.
