Hayden Kua from Year 8 gave an incredible performance on Thursday lunchtime to an awed audience. He was playing through his audition pieces for Eton's music scholarship.
Hayden's repertoire is not only of an extremely high standard, it is also spread over 3 instruments. He has exceptional talent on the violin, performing the first movement of Mendelssohn's violin concerto, and Kreisler's Liebesfreud. But his musicianship extends even further - to the piano and the flute. His rendition of Chopin's Grande Valse Brillante was both sensitive and technically flawless - worthy of a concert hall. He finished his performance with some dances on the flute, an instrument he has recently mastered having only started learning it about two years ago.
Sad as we are to lose Hayden from our musical life at Alice Smith, we wish him all the very best in his audition in freezing Windsor next Wednesday.
