We have a huge range of activities that happen on campus, all focused on learning. Our prime objective, however, supercedes even that and it is to make our campus safe for everyone. It was for this reason that I invited Bomba to join us at Equine Park to share with us some of their expertise in terms of basic fire fighting skills.
Our nearest Bomba unit is based in Seri Kembangan and we wanted to use this opportunity to find out exactly how long it would take for them to arrive on campus. Less than 10 minutes after the initial call was made, two units arrived to a welcome applause with lights flashing and sirens sounding.
The main focus of the day was to give our maintenance, domestic and security staff hands-on practice at putting out basic fires. Before that, Tuan Norazam, Head of Fire Fighting Training Division in Seri Kembangan, gave a useful preamble to explain the different types of fire and the best ways to deal with them.
This was followed by the hand-on session which gave our staff an opportunity to put out a real fire under the watchful eyes of experts. The photos you see below give a feel for the morning and I know from discussions with staff that this was incredibly worthwhile for all who attended.
I would like to give a public thanks to Tuan Norazam and his team for offering up their time and expertise with the aim of making our campus a safer place. Thanks also to Mr Kumar for helping to organise this.
