Written by Arianna Chow, Year 10
From 2nd - 9th November, I competed in the Asian Waterski and Wakeboard Championships held in Bangkok. I came first in the under 17 girls trick-skiing category. The win is very special to me as it is my first ever gold in my water skiing career. Also, it was just what I needed to boost my confidence after my injury on my ligament during my last competition in Indonesia which put me 7 months off the water, not being able to waterski. I didn't expect myself to do so well, as I had only trained for 10 days before the competition. It was such a wonderful surprise!
During this competition, I realised how important mental resilience is, as I was especially nervous since I hadn't competed in a long time. Being able to stay focused and make sure my nerves didn't get to me was my main challenge but such an important skill that I managed to master. It was such a memorable experience for me and as always, added to my character and passion towards the sport.
