On Friday, 23rd October, Mr Small and Mrs Keeling gave an Economics taster session in the lecture theatre at lunch time, for students who were unsure about taking Economics at A Level, or were curious about the content you learn as an Economics student.
During the session, we briefly learned about the utility curve and the relationship between quantity and price - a topic that is studied by Economics students at the beginning of Year 12. We then got to apply this knowledge to the real world by eating Haribo sweets and seeing whether our satisfaction decreased with the number of sweets we ate. The results were surprising as most of us were less satisfied after each of the sweets we consumed.
The session gave Year 11 students an insight into A level Economics. As we learnt a small part of the content covered, it showed us what kind of work we would be doing as Year 12 and 13 students in Economics.
