On Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November, teddy bears will take the initiation to spread love to the community. To help raise awareness on the issues of neglected and abandoned children, a fundraising event will be launched with the selling of 60 teddy bear figures and badges by Zhun Yee Chew.
“I believe myself to have the innate capacity to not only empathise but directly involve myself with the welfare of others. So I decided to combine my artistic skill of making handmade crafts with my charity plan to fill the gaps of love in the hearts of abandoned children.”
In conjunction with the fundraising event, a teddy bear collection drive will be carried out throughout the whole month of November at the Secondary Campus. You will notice large baskets at the sports house noticeboard area, ready to be filled with pre-loved teddy bears no matter what type or design they belong to. Please bring in any unwanted teddy bears to school to donate to this cause. The collection drive will be carried out as a competition between houses. If you give a little love, you get a little love of your own, and house points!
A teddy bear is a panacea of comfort to abandoned children, stuffed with love. A teddy might not change a child’s world, but a simple act of giving love does.
