On 18th and 19th October 2015, Natalie Hunter along with Oliver and Mathew Trott took part in the Sarawak International Triathlon.
Due to stormy weather, all swimming was cancelled and all events became 'duathlons" (run / bike / run). In the 11-14 years old race (2km run, 10km bike, 2km run) Natalie ran an excellent run coming in first, was caught on the 10k bike but ran strongly to finish as female CHAMPION by more than 2 minutes . As one of the youngest in the race, this was a terrific effort. Natalie also beat all the 15-17 year old girls in the process.
A bigger surprise was to follow! As the swim was cancelled, Natalie was asked to do the first run in the OLYMPIC DISTANCE DUATHLON mixed relay - for adults and elite youths (Natalie is 11). Her run was 2km. Natalie ran even faster as she did not want to let the team down and she finished her run in 3rd place and her relay team finished overall 3rd. You will see in the photo how big her team mates were.
Natalie was obviously delighted with her weekend's successes. She had fun, something a bit different and did her best in both the individual and team races. Coming back from being behind in the bike is a great sign.
The Trotts were magnificent. Oliver was champion in both the 11 - 14 category and the under 20 category while Mathew was 4th.
