Today has been a day of celebration and emotion with our Valedictory Assembly for Year 13 and, Presentation Assemblies for KS4 and 5 this morning and Key stage 3 this afternoon. These assemblies are some of the most important events on the school calendar because they are occasions where we formally recognise our students for their work both inside and outside the classroom and involvement in the community. Through today’s awards, we acknowledged and celebrated academic achievement, citizenship, student potential and progress, a commitment to excellence and also student leadership - congratulations to our prize winners!
On Tuesday we celebrated Founder’s Day with a special assembly during which we reflected on the beginnings of our school and its rich history and also our school today in 2015, and this was followed by tree planting. It is an important day to remember our heritage and the assembly contained some poignant speeches from students about what Alice Smith means to them.
We have had a positive year and I hope you have read about it in our Year Book. All this would not be possible without the commitment, generosity of time, drive and enthusiasm of students, staff and parents, and I would like to thank you for all you have done to make this year an incredibly successful one with many happy and lasting memories for our school.
For our graduating class of 2015, and students, families and staff leaving us this year, we hope that you will always feel part of the Alice Smith community and cherish the memories of your time spent with us. We hope that you will hold Alice Smith in your hearts and minds as you move forward in life, as you will be in ours. We wish you every success for the future. For all returning next year, have a wonderful summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back in September.
