This week we were all treated to something pretty spectacular - the Year 6 production of ‘We Will Rock You’. From the moment the lights went up and the first beat of the live student band sounded out, the audiences were carried along clapping and foot tapping to an amazing one and a half hour performance of this award winning musical from our talented Year 6 students.
A total of four full performances took place in the school hall which had been transformed into Wembley Stadium! Congratulations to every student who took part in the show, particularly to the entire student production team and backstage crew who helped to produce this spectacular event. I would also like to offer our sincere thanks to all the parents involved in supporting and helping the production. The experiences our students have had this week will, I am sure, stay with them for a very long time.
Thanks must, of course, go to our fantastic staff for their drive, energy and enthusiasm in ensuring that ‘We Will Rock You’ goes down as a memorable event in the history of Alice Smith school productions.
No sooner had the last stage block been removed on Thursday night, when the hall was converted into a minibeast ‘jungle’ for today’s Year 1 Ugly Bug Ball. With costumes designed and made by the children, the corridors have been swarming today with lots of interesting varieties of spiders, butterflies and creepy crawlies.
The hall will also be the venue for many of our end of term events next week, the most important being our Founder’s Day celebrations on Tuesday 7th July. If you are around school at the end of the day, do come to the hall to view the results of our class ‘bunting‘ competition.
Finally, next week is the final week of this academic year. Please be reminded that the last day is Friday 10th July and we finish at 12noon. If you are saying farewell to Alice Smith then do please come into the office to say ‘goodbye’ before you leave. We also hope a little piece of KLASS goes with you; there will always be a warm welcome should you return.
Wishing you a pleasant weekend,
Alison Nadarajah
