This week has seen pride and inspiration in abundance and plenty of ‘wow’ moments.
At our Summer Concert on Monday, we were treated to some incredible performances by our talented and committed musicians. From Liszt to Abba, each performance was excellent. Well done to all students and thank you to Mr Nolan and Mrs Anderson for their leadership of this event.
Yesterday evening was the M.A.D. Show and an evening to share, celebrate and recognise the hard work and talent of our students. In the words of Her Excellency, Vicki Treadell, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, the quality of the exhibition was ‘mind blowing!’. Thank you to our Heads of Department; Mr Jackson, Mr Phillips and Mr O’Connor for all their incredible support of the students and hard work to put together this event. We will share more with you about this event in KLASS Times.
Also at the M.A.D. Show we recognised that as part of the Queen’s Birthday celebration, with the theme ‘Creativity is GREAT’ as an umbrella over the sub-theme ‘British Icons and Innovation’, the British High Commission held an Art competition for schools and we are very proud to announce that out of 300 entries, our students won the Year 6, 7 8 and 9 categories: Congratulations Gioia M in Year 6, Georgie C in Year 7, Aydazafira M in Year 8, and Olivia K and Stephen W in Year 9. Once again, further information will be shared with you in KLASS Times about this great achievement. The students’ artwork will be used in a 2016 calendar, which will be made available to all International Schools and other organisations, and all proceeds will be contributed to #UKMYunite campaign - which is an ongoing flood relief campaign providing assistance to the devastated areas and families of Kelantan.
There was also a lovely atmosphere in school yesterday with our Summer Sports Festival. It was great to see all students involved in such an active and supportive way with their peers and their Houses. Fleming were the overall winners of the day taking the trophy in three events and Muir one. Thank you to all who made the day such a success - our PE Team, Heads of House, House Captains, student leaders and staff, and to the PTA and parents who came to support. Also sports related, next week, we are looking forward to recognising our exceptional sports men and women at the Sports Awards ceremonies, with the Senior event taking place this Saturday and the Junior on Tuesday.
Finally, you will have received a letter earlier this week inviting you to work with us on improving communication. We hope you are able to attend to help us develop strategies for improvement. I would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by Monday so we can plan to make the best use of time at the meeting.
Have a lovely weekend
