We are coming to that time in the year when we are both preparing for our traditional end of year events as well as looking forward to the new academic year. There is a real buzz around the school: rehearsals for our Year 6 Production are under way, our Year 4 students are excited about their upcoming residential trip, Foundation Stage will soon be off to Aquaria and Founder’s Day competitions have started.
The Music Department and students have also been busy over the last year practising for their ABRSM, Trinity College and Rock School exams which were held at the Primary Campus this week. Exams were completed on an array of instruments such as drums, vocals, piano, violin and recorder. Well done to the 72 students from the Primary Campus that took part.
Looking forward, we are in the process of finalising our classes for next year. For a variety of educational and social reasons, it is school policy that classes are reorganised at the end of FS1, Years 2, 4 and 6. Accordingly, we have been considering a number of factors over the past few weeks in order to achieve the best balance of new classes in each of these year groups. In making up five reasonably balanced classes, we take into consideration such factors as friendships, group interaction, gender, culture and ability.
Whilst we acknowledge that friendship groups are very important, ‘best friends’ do not always make the best work partners and the children will have the opportunity to see their friends in their shared areas, during mixed group activities and at break times. Newcomers find it easier to fit into classes where there are fewer well-established groups and in an ever-changing school population, it is beneficial for children to have a wide circle of friends.
Today, Year 6 were informed of their new Year 7 class in preparation for their Transition Days at the Secondary Campus next week. Class lists for all other year groups will be sent home on Tuesday 30th June and, where possible, all children will have the opportunity to meet their new teacher on Monday 6th July
Finally, today we emailed home a summary of the results of the recent Primary Parent Survey. We were very pleased with the results and it is encouraging to receive such positive support in so many of the school’s operations. Thank you for your feedback and we hope that you take time to read through the full survey. This is available to read in 'Presentations, Links and Docs' on the Parent Portal.
Have a pleasant weekend.
